A children’s story that can only be enjoyed by children is not a good children’s story in the slightest. – CS Lewis A truer statement would be hard to find. To share a story with a child is a beautiful interaction. For both parties to enjoy the story it becomes a magical moment in both people’s lives – a treasured memory. These moments cultivate a love of reading in the next generation and act as a reminder to those who may have forgotten the joy of a story well told. CS Lewis not only reminds us to enjoy literature but his work also teaches us about courage, self belief, friendship, honesty, and perseverance.
I openly admit to being a fan of Harry Potter. In fact, I am a proud Ravenclaw. At times, people laugh and will say that my interest in this story is childish – I’d like to challenge that close minded view. I love this series not long because I enjoyed the story, the cleverness of the author.. I love this series because it makes people read. It encourages those who have never had interest in opening a book.. to read.. and not stop at one novel. I have known adults who hadn’t made it through a single novel get hooked by this ‘childish’ tale. To be able to read and immerse yourself in a work of fiction is such a privilege. It’s like just like.. magic!
